From North and West (Gaylord, Rogers City …)
At M-68 and US-23 in Rogers City continue down US-23 south and mostly east for 14.6 miles Turn left onto E 638 Hwy (you should see signs to Presque Isle Light House) In 2.2 miles E 638 will fork to the left, stay on E 638 In 2 more miles E 638 will end at E Grand Lake Road, turn right. (If you go straight your car better be a boat) In .9 miles turn left on to Kaufmann Rd. In .7 miles turn right into Camp
From South (Bay City and beyond)
- Go North on I/75/US-23 and exit where I-75 and US-23 split (Standish Exit 188)
- keep going on US-23 all the way to and through Alpena for about 116 miles
- After about 107 miles and you are in Alpena and see the Hospital, you have about 3.5 miles before next turn
- Turn right on E Grand Lake Rd. Hideaway Bar is on the corner
- In 3.5 miles turn right (first and only stop sign) again on E Grand Lake Rd
- Continue for 8.6 miles passing through the lovely village of Presque Isle.
- Turn Right onto Kauffman Road for .7 miles
- Turn right onto the Camp property
Distance from Standish about 130 miles.
If you want is different scenic route (forests), hop on M-65 north in Omer and follow the Southwest directions. It’s a little longer but the traffic is usually lighter and there are fewer towns. Huron National Forest is beautiful.
Southwest West Cities like Grayling, West Branch:
- Cut over east to M-65 and turn north
- Take M-65 North to where it ends at M-32
- Turn Right (east) on M-32 for 15.7 miles into Alpena
- Turn left on E Chisholm (US23 north)
- In 10.2 miles turn right on E Grand Lake Rd. Hideaway Bar is on the corner
- In 3.5 miles turn right (first and only stop sign) again on E Grand Lake Rd
- Continue for 8.6 miles passing through the lovely village of Presque Isle.
- Turn Right onto Kauffman Road for .7 miles
- Turn right onto the Camp property
