I was a camper every summer from about 70-78, then a counselor in summer of 80'.

I looked through all Lee's pics, amazing. Klondike days, the QHut, the fishing raft.......

Matt - Just looked through all the pics you posted as well. Wow, what a blast from the past. Wild to see the ones at almost the last page, looks like I was having a bad day! Great memories.
Look me up, I can be found on facebook and linked in living in Nashville nowadays.

Hello,

I was looking at Photos and it brought back great memories. I was counselor in the summer of 1978. If you look at the photo of the group picture from 1978. I was tall kid in the back with a buzz hair cut. I spent 1 summer at the camp after high school with a good friend of mine Kevin. He is the other guy with a short hair cut in the picture. Maybe I will make it back up there one day.

Great Memories,

Phil Franz

Greetings!

We've had a week of fun Family Camp and are now gearing up for Diocesan Youth Camps. Camp staffers will welcome sixty two campers into camp over the next week. I believe there are still spaces for senior campers in the second week. Junior Camp/ CIT starts today and both sessions are nearly full.

Hi all!

I have been a camper/staffer at Camp Chick for the past 6 or 7 years. As a youth camper, LIT participant, CIT participant, program staffer and as a counselor I have had some of the greatest experiences of my life. Camp is a place where friends become family and the sad become joyous. Seeing a child find God is one of the greatest experiences of my life.

This summer I will be working as a Core Staffer and cannot wait to spread the news of Camp Chick and raise the bar to new and greater aspirations. The progress that this camp has seen in the past 5 years is astounding and the fact that I can help it continue in growth is exciting.

God Bless!
Katie

Hello everyone! I'm also one of the CORE Staffers that will be up at Chick for the Summer '09. Woooo! : )

For the past 5 years, Chick has been a huge part of my life. I'm so excited to be part of a team that will push the camp to the next level and continue to spread love to the youth of our diocese and multiply our camp family from year to year.

As a past camper and counselor, another summer of God-Moments, old and new friends that in the matter of a week become family, and the insight of a youngster, offers the opportunity that I wanted to stay apart of; and now at an extended length! I can't wait to set the bar so the camp can only escalate. I'm getting to that point where I've seen some of my campers grow up from year to year, and my hope is to offer them, and all campers, their own camp experiences that will guide them on their own spiritual journey. Perhaps, they will want to be counselors and offer that same opportunity.

ps. Thanks to all those who came to Work Weekend. It was exciting to meet and talk with new people that have dynamic connections to camp! keep on commin'! :)

As a core staffer for this summer ('09), I'd like to thank everyone who came out to Work Week this year. I feel truly blessed to see the history of this camp represented in an ongoing commitment to pass on great memories to a new generation.

I am excited for this summer. I think the camp staff and the greater Episcopalian community will make this a truly memorable experience for our campers this summer, and ensure a strong future for this great asset to our church's youth.

One a zippa, two a zippa, three a zippa ZAM! We're hard boiled and we don't give a hobble-gobble zis boom BAH! Camp Chickagami! RAH! RAH! RAH!
I shared that apparently common experience of being a camper for years (the 1970s), then finding myself hired on for the last month of the summer. I drew the office boy job, where the most important point was to check the speed setting on the record player before airing a bugle call (yeah, you regular staffers know who kept changing it from 33 to 78!) Thanks to you great souls who spent the time adding history and photos to this site...it is a gift to us who carry Camp Chick in our hearts!
