STAFF DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION
Reports to: Camp Director
- General Responsibilities
- Act as Director in the absence of the Camp Director
- To meet counselor and camper needs
- Prepare schedules for staff and activities
- Direct Staff in daily activities and camper involvement
- Specific Responsibilities
- Lead counseling staff in preparing for campers by:
- being a hospitable presence in the cabin and upon arrival to camp.
- facilitating camper activities in getting to know one another.
- supervising and supporting campers and counselors in daily activities and cabin routines.
- being aware of campers health needs. Communicate with camp nurse as needed.
- working in partnership counselors in developing a friendly, fair and peaceful cabin atmosphere.
- being open to leading or initiating evening sharing in the cabin and a sense of trust and openness to allow campers and staff voices to be heard.
- Participate in the Christian Formation Programs
- During programs, actively participate and give full attention to the program facilitator and to watching the campers
- Model appropriate program participation for campers
- During program times, teach counselors to interact with and involve campers in activities
- Be aware of activity safety precautions. Alert staff leaders to any unsafe conditions.
- Assist activity leaders as needed.
- Organize and facilitate recreational activities.
- Lead staff in developing daily evening programs, campers choices activities, and cabin time.
- Participate in Staff Orientation, Meetings and Evaluation Sessions
- Be an active and prepared participant in orientation, meetings and evaluations.
- Share feedback about program, camp procedures and policies in positive, constructive ways.
- Lead counseling staff in preparing for campers by:
- Qualifications
- At least 21 years of age.
- Experience in management or personnel training a plus
- Openness to participating in Christian worship and learning programs
