It takes many hands and a lot of love to keep a place like this alive. Volunteers of all kinds are welcome — whether you want to help during summer programming, fix benches and paint buildings, weed the garden, lead a craft, or share a trade skill.

If you have something to offer, we have a job for you. And if you just want to show up and work hard, that's exactly what we need too.

    Join us any day or time between Thursday, May 21, and Tuesday, May 26, to help get Camp Chickagami ready for the summer season. Please register so we can plan for your arrival.

    It takes many hands and lots of love to keep our beloved camp going. Volunteers of all types are welcome to share their gifts at Camp Chickagami. 

    Our schedule is flexible -- all we ask is that you let us know what meals you will be present for so we can plan appropriately, and if (and when) you'll need sleeping accommodations.

    All volunteers will be provided with meals & lodging. Prior to arrival, logistics about what to pack will be communicated via email.

  • End of Summer Work Camp

    An all-ages, family-friendly Labor Day weekend at camp with opportunities to serve the community

    Friday, September 4 - Monday, September 7 at Camp Chickagami, Presque Isle, MI

    Incremental pricing starts at $100 per person, plus $75 for each additional person. Scholarships available.

    Labor Day Work Camp blends service with celebration. You'll work alongside other families doing meaningful tasks to help camp prepare for its winter rest, then enjoy downtime to swim, relax, and build community. It's about making light work through shared effort and finding joy in working together.

  • Camp Chickagami is located on Kauffman Road in Presque Isle, Michigan — about 20 miles north of Alpena on the Lake Huron shoreline. From Alpena, take US-23 North to Presque Isle. Follow signs toward Presque Isle Harbor, then turn onto Kauffman Road. Camp will be on your left.

  • Free transportation is available for all youth camp overnight sessions, thanks to partnerships with the Episcopal Diocese of Michigan and the Episcopal Diocese of the Great Lakes. Transportation options from Alpena are also available for day camp. Details are provided at registration.

    For rental guests, transportation is not provided. Contact us if your group has logistical needs and we'll help think through options.

  • Camp Chickagami is a rustic lakefront facility — which means gravel roads, pine needles on the path, and the smell of the lake when you step out of your car. It is intentionally simple. That simplicity is part of what makes it work.

    When you arrive, you'll check in at the office or the main dining hall. From there, staff will help you get oriented, find your cabin, and get settled. First-time visitors are always welcome to ask for a brief tour.

  • Youth camp sessions (overnight): Check-in Sunday 1–2 PM · Check-out Friday 1 PM

    Adult retreats: Check-in Friday 3 PM · Check-out Sunday after breakfast (room cleared by 12:30 PM)

    Rentals: Timing arranged at booking.
